The Dallas Stars have reportedly put 20-year-old Russian power-winger Valeri Nichushkin on the trading block:
#Stars Val Nichushkin reportedly on trading block. Would be hard for some GMs to straight up say nyet on acquiring him.

The Stars and Red Wings were trade partners last season, could they potentially serve the same fate this time around? Valeri Nichushkin is no doubt a young, fast, highly-skilled winger. After missing the majority of last season with an injury, Nichushkin has put up 21 points in 57 games. The numbers don’t exactly jump out at you, but if you account for all of Nichushkin’s abilities are with his size, strength, and tenacity, he just serve a true purpose playing alongside his fellow countryman Pavel Datsyuk.
The question is, how much will it cost the Red Wings?
The Stars are a team lush with scoring abilities, but still lack in terms of solid depth defensemen. The Red Wings have a full farm of defensive prospects, along with any draft pick or possibly roster players to go along with it. Nichushkin is a highly-touted player who has the blend of skill and size that makes general managers googly-eyed. No doubt he has the ceiling of a top-six power forward, but the question remains how much would Jim Nill’s history with the Red Wings possibly help make this deal happen. It sounds crazy and speculative, but if Ken Holland is truly after an impact forward, Nichushkin would serve one now, and in the future.
