Players to Watch:
For Detroit:
Danny DeKeyser.
Assuming he is in tonight (they sent Alexey Marchenko to Grand Rapids, so it's pretty safe to assume such things), he'll likely be a bit rusty to begin with. Gotta shake off the cobwebs, and get into game shape. The team needs him desperately. The defense performed less than what we expect last night, and if they plan to keep up with the pack this year, they simply need to be better.
For Montreal:
P.K. Subban.
He's awesome, don't you know? I hate it, because he's legitimately one of my favorite NHL players, but I have to root against him tonight. We know the story with him - One of the best defenders in the league, booming slapshot, fantastic personality, and all-around good dude. It's hard not to cheer for him. He's just a lot of fun to watch.
Key Match-ups:
Petr Mrazek vs Carey Price.
Pretty sure this is what the game is going to come down to. The Habs have been playing very inspired hockey as of late, but the Red Wings will have a chip on their shoulder after a brutal loss to a weak team last night. Price is the best goalie in the league, and probably the world. So I just have to think that goaltending will be a deciding factor in this game.
Max Pacioretty vs Dylan Larkin.
Because why not? Two University of Michigan alumni who left after their freshman year, going head-to-head. Both speedy, both skilled. That should be a fun match-up.
