Open Thread Day 14: Keep the Fun Coming

The hits and fun just keep on coming. Day 14 sees two series where the teams battle for control and two where the higher seeded team looks to take a commanding lead.

Here’s what’s on tap for today’s games. We’ll use this as an open thread for today’s games.

Boston Bruins (4) at Carolina Hurricanes (5)

Scotiabank Arena, Toronto

Best of 7: Series tied 1-1

Time: 12:00 pm ET

Team Sites: Canes Country, Stanley Cup of Chowder

So far this series has been pretty close to expectations. Boston has found another gear after their less than inspiring round robin games. Carolina has been their typical aggressive selves, to their plus and detriment. When the Hurricanes walk the line between being aggressive and being out of control, they are a very difficult team to play against. The problem is they have a hard time finding that line consistently and in a series against an experienced team like Boston that could be all the Bruins need to win.

Colorado Avalanche (2) at Arizona Coyotes (7)

Rogers Place, Edmonton

Best of 7: Colorado leads 2-0

Time: 3:00pmET

Team Sites: Mile High Hockey, Five for Howling

Arizona has played well at times though the first two games of the series but the results have simply not been there on the score sheet or the win column. That said, Colorado is just too good of a team and it is going to be difficult for the Coyotes to keep the Avs from taking a strangle hold on the series today.

Tampa Bay Lightning (2) at Columbus Blue Jackets (7)

Scotiabank Arena, Toronto

Best of 7: Series tied 1-1

Time: 7:30 pm ET

Team Sites: The Cannon, Raw Charge

Columbus overcame the 5OT game one loss and an early goal from Tampa Bay in game two to win 3-1 and even up the series. At this point trying to guess what is going to happen in this series is like trying to hit the bullseye on a dart board with a dart while blindfolded and in a pitch-black room. Just sit back and enjoy this one.

Vegas Golden Knights (1) at Chicago Blackhawks (8)

Rogers Place, Edmonton

Best of 7: Vegas leads 2-0

Time: 8:00pm ET

Team Sites: Second City Hockey, Kinghts on Ice

The final game of the night should be an enjoyable one as well, but for a different reason. It is always fun to watch the Blackhawks lose but it is even more fun when it is from an entertaining team like Vegas.
