The Red Wings are back in action after getting an entire day off from games. Detroit is coming off a 3-1 victory over the Bruins in Boston on Monday night, a game in which Jimmy Howard was sensational and came within a minute of a shutout. Tonight, the Wings will take on Pittsburgh, a team that played the Lightning last night in the Hockeyville, USA game in Johnstown, PA.

There haven’t been any cuts since the Wings last took the ice, but if yesterday’s practice lines are an indication of who is playing tonight, the lines could look like this:

UPDATE 11:23 AM- Official Lines & Parinings.

Forwards

Justin Abdelkader Dylan Larkin Gustav Nyquist
Johan Franzen Riley Sheahan Luke Glendening
Tomas Jurco Tomas Nosek Landon Ferraro
Tyler Bertuzzi Andreas Athanasiou Anthony Mantha

Defensemen

Danny DeKeyser Brendan Smith
Robbie Russo Nick Jensen
Xavier Ouellet Ryan Sproul

Goaltenders

Petr Mrazek
Jared Coreau

There’s a lot of speculation around those lines, and we’ll know more after the morning skate, but it doesn’t sound like Green will be back in the lineup yet, so expect a change there. Teemu Pulkkinen and Darren Helm are both not participating in full practices yet and we probably won’t see them for a while either.

With Howard getting the start (and full game) against Boston, it will be interesting to see how Mrazek fares against the Penguins. We might see Sidney Crosby in the game, as he didn’t play last night against Tampa Bay, and home games tend to see the stars play. We’ll have a better idea of the lineup for Pittsburgh after they practice later today and will update accordingly.

Like Monday, this post will serve as the game thread for those following along with the online broadcast. Go Wings!
