Preseason Morning Skate: Red Wings vs BlackHawks

7:30p ET, Joe Louis Arena

Detroit, MI

TV: Fox Sports Detroit, NHLN-US

Blackhawks Blog: Second City Hockey

The Wings B squad fell in overtime to the Blackhawks A squad last night after coming back from a 3 goal deficit late in the 2nd period. The Hawks iced their big name players like Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook, Teravainen, etc while the Wings “top” line consisted of Andy Miele, Riley Sheahan, and Luke Glendening. Tonight the Wings will most likely play their bigger name players while Chicago ices a more rookie team.

While neither team has announced who will be playing tonight, for the Wings I expect to see a line of

Justin AbdelkaderHenrik ZetterbergGustav Nyquist, and a line of Tomas JurcoBrad RichardsTomas Tatar. On Defense we’ll probably See Danny DeKeyserMike Green and Niklas KronwallJonathan Ericsson. Other than those lines and pairings, maybe some of the players from tonight will play again, or Blashill may choose to go with all players who didn’t play last night. The Wings have enough players to have 3 teams, so we’ll see which ones are up next. We’ll post updates here for both rosters as they become available.

The lines and defense pairings I listed above have serious potential to be the top 2 lines and D pairings we see to start the regular season and they were mainstays in training camp.

This game is being broadcast on both Fox Sports and the NHL Network so more people will be able to watch the game and get their whistle wet with some preseason Red Wings hockey.

Once again this post will also serve as the game thread.
