Projected Lineup, How to Watch Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins October 5

After getting thoroughly beaten by the Chicago Blackhawks last night, the Red Wings continue their stretch of 4 games in 5 nights with a trip to Pittsburgh to take on the defending Stanley Cup champions.

The Red Wings iced a pretty inexperienced lineup last night against the Hawks, and the Wings will be turning to different players who are on the roster bubble and/or trying to solidify their spot on the team. Today was an optional skate, so there were no formal lines announced.

At forward, Teemu Pulkkinen, fresh off making his preseason debut last night, will get another opportunity to earn a spot on the final roster. It’s likely we’ll see the return of the OMG line, and this could be the last time we see a number of these players as the preseason winds down.

On defense, the Wings are going with a very young group, but Brendan Smith should get plenty of time as the #1 defenseman against a Penguins team that will be icing most of their projected opening night roster. It will be interesting to see who gets paired up and who they get matched up against.

How to Watch

The game will be on FSD tonight in the local viewing area. It’s also scheduled to be shown on NHL Network at 7 pm ET, likely via the ROOT broadcast. Like last night, if you don’t have NHLN, you may miss out.
