The biggest pro with re-signing Alfredsson is that he co-led the team in points last season. He will probably not hit that mark this year, but he will certainly contribute a significant amount of points. Enough points to warrant his roster spot. The con is that he does take up a roster spot, which could be given to a player like Tomas Jurco, and that the Wings only have a little over $5 million in cap space, with DeKeyser still unsigned.

Sheahan was a guest coach at the Wings’ youth camp at Joe Louis Arena. Glendening was a guest coach on Monday, and DeKeyser will be one today.
