Quick Hits: Game 4 Edition

Red Wings News

Bruins 3, Red Wings 2: Jarome Iginla scores in overtime; Boston takes 3-1 series lead | MLive.com
What can I say, that was disappointing. The first period of last night’s game was arguably the best one so far in the playoffs, and if the Wings kept on playing like they did then, this series would have been tied. But, there is a reason why games are three periods, or four in yesterday’s case, long. All focus has to placed on Saturday and prolonging the series. Being down 3-1 certainly is not fun, but the show isn’t over just yet.

Red Wings’ Todd Bertuzzi back in the game: Forward makes impact in Game 4 loss | Detroit Free Press | freep.com
As Graham mentioned in his recap, Bertuzzi played well last night. He used his best asset of being a big, though, yet skillful player, and I thought made a good impact on the game.

Jordin Tootoo makes boy’s night after giving stick away | Toronto Sun
I am sure that you have all seen this by now, but this was great. The kids reaction after Tootoo gave him his stick is priceless.

Babcock’s Wife Doesn’t Like His Childbirth Response ” CBS Detroit
When asked about Kronwall’s availability for last night’s game, Babcock said Kronwall should play as he was not the one giving birth. It seems that this was a non-issue, as the baby was born prior to the game.

Baby names | Red Wings Front
Pavel Datsyuk has named his new daughter Vasilisa Datsyuk. It seems to be a somewhat common Russian name that means “Queen”. Niklas Kronwall has named his son Douglas Kronwall. Congrats to the both of them!

Only seven games? I thought that was five games too many for a regular player, and two games too many for Cooke. Either way, Cooke did not deserve a longer suspension.

$2359.10 was raised in this pledge, and the money will go to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. Great thing to do, and it’s nice that a lot of the SBNation blogs (include our own) could contribute to this cause.

Trophy Case: Which forward deserves the Selke? – Sportsnet.ca
Out of Bergeron, Kopitar, and Toews, I have to admit that Bergeron deserves the award the most. A healthy Datsyuk next season should place him back in this category.

Eulogy: Remembering the 2013-14 Tampa Bay Lightning | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports
Considering that the Lightning lost both Lecavalier and St. Louis this season, along with Stamkos for the latter apart of it, they did well. The lack of Ben Bishop in the playoffs ultimately hurt them to the point of no repair.

Regardless of his shootout skills, T.J. Oshie was never a great player. The expectations placed on him after the Olympics may have debilitated his self-esteem.

Ryan Callahan open to staying with Lightning, considering options – CBSSports.com

Playoff overtime hockey means no commercials, and no peeing – SBNation.com
I understand the dilemma here. But, I do enjoy the fact that there are no commercials in OT. It makes it go by faster.
