Detroit Red Wings hire Jim Hiller, Andrew Brewer as assistant coaches | MLive.com
The Wings have added two new coaches, which means that the Wings’ bench is set for next season. Personally, I like these two hires, especially that of Brewer.

Wings in Waiting: Mattias Backman – Detroit Red Wings
Hopefully Bäckman will get some time with the Wings’ next season. He has a lot of experience from playing in the SHL, which may give him an advantage compared to players like Marchenko and Sproul.

NHL News

Devils sign Greene to five-year, $25M extension | ProHockeyTalk
Andy Greene has spent his entire NHL career with the Devils. Greene had one of the best seasons of his career in 2013-14, scoring eight goals and 32 points.

Habs should stop posturing and sign Subban – Sportsnet.ca
If you look back to the Shea Weber situation a few years ago, you can probably assume that this will turn out well for both sides in the end. But, the Canadiens have to realize that while Subban may not be a top-5 defenseman in the NHL, he is clearly one of the best, and his performance on the ice proves that point. If they had other players who could fill his role, then you could see why Montreal would like to sign him to a much lower rate than what he is asking for. The problem is that they have no one, and there will probably not be anyone available in free agency in the next few years, that can emulate Subban’s production.

Kings, forward King agree on three-year, $5.85M deal | TSN
Dwight King avoided arbitration with the Kings by signing this contract with a cap hit of $1.95 million. He scored 15 goals and 30 points last season.

Spaling requests $2.85 million from Pens, who counter with $1.65 million | ProHockeyTalk
Spaling, who was traded to Pittsburgh in the James Neal deal, is already arguing with his new team. His actual value is somewhere in between those two contract proposals. He scored 13 goals and 32 points for the Predators last season.

Blackhawks pick Kevin Hayes expected to test free agency – CBSSports.com
If Hayes does not sign with Chicago by August 15th, he will become a UFA. There will probably be quite a bit of interest in him if he becomes available.

P.K. Subban lowballed by Canadiens, and himself, in arbitration – SBNation.com
Hey Montreal, according to this, Subban is actually saving you $600K! What a nice lad, eh?

NHL hit with another concussion lawsuit | ProHockeyTalk
Former Bruins defenseman Jon Rohloff has filed a concussion lawsuit against the NHL. This is the fourth lawsuit of its kind filed against the NHL.

Teemu Forever! Selanne will decide on playing in KHL soon | Puck Daddy
Selanne is still very capable of playing hockey, especially in a league like the KHL. If he still wants to, and feels driven too, then why not?
