Red Wings News

Detroit Red Wings Analytics: Jakub Kindl and Kyle Quincey Lead D in Corsi | The Detroit Sports Site
I have always been a Kindl fan, so I hope that he succeeds. However, the sample size here is far too small to determine whether there has been any serious improvement over last season for him, or if he has simply performed well so far.

Red Wings need to be harder at the net and on the inside to score more, especially on power play | MLive.com
Although, you do want to go too hard towards the net, as the Wings’ last game proved.

I think that the helmet looks pretty slick.

The Stephen Weiss conundrum and what it means for the Red Wings | The Detroit Hustle
The Weiss situation is truly a conundrum. He cannot be waived, cannot be realistically bought out, and there is not a team in the league which would trade for him (note: there are scenarios in which he could be shipped to Florida. But, all of these trades involve a greater package in which he adds little-to-no value). But, before any of these aforementioned options even become possibilities, we have to give him some playing time to allow him to at least have a chance to prove himself as a Red Wing.

Slava Voynov ‘clearly did not hit her’ says lawyer (Yahoo Sports Exclusive) | Puck Daddy
Interesting interview. This is partially because the lawyer refuses to hint at what caused Voynov’s girlfriends injuries (do not read into this too much, there is a legal confidentiality between a lawyer and his/her client that cannot be breached), and partially because he seems incredibly adamant that Voynov is not at fault. I am not going to form an opinion about this situation until the police release more details.

Sabres fans rooting for losing are already coveting McDavid | TSN

The Sabres are going to be bad this season. But, whether or not they will finish last in the NHL is far too early to determine. And, then there is the draft lottery to deal with. Point being, if I was a Sabres’ fan, I would be cautiously optimistic of the team’s chance at drafting McDavid.

Is Barry Trotz a magic man? Early Capitals’ advanced stats say yes | The Hockey News
I have always respected Barry Trotz as a coach, but, if he can be successful with the Capitals, I think that we may have to begin thinking of Trotz in higher regard than what we have previously done.
