Quick Hits: Who Should The Wings Move When Johan Franzen Returns?

Red Wings News

Detroit Red Wings let one get away in Philadelphia as power play continues to let them down | MLive.com
You cannot win them all. But, the Wings should have beat the Flyers on Saturday.

Detroit Red Wings will have a roster decision to make when Johan Franzen leaves injured list | MLive.com
Johan Franzen is eligible to be taken off injured reserve, and unless he is still dealing with his injury, should play on Wednesday. This means that the Wings need to finally decide which player they should move. Demoting Tomas Jurco remains the most likely and least desired option, while waiving Andrej Nestrasil is becoming increasingly likely after his mediocre start to the season. And, there is always the possibility of waiving Daniel Cleary.

Forward Andrej Nestrasil is a work in progress for Detroit Red Wings | Detroit Free Press
I was not too enthusiastic about Nestrasil heading into the season, and he has not made much of an impression in his eight games that he has played with the Wings. He only has one assist and no goals in those eight games. With Franzen coming off IR, his time may be up with the Wings. Also, if he is waived, I do not think that he will be claimed.

Red Wings aim to be more aggressive on power play; Mike Babcock considers personnel changes | MLive.com
I would rather have Nyquist on the top PP unit with Zetterberg and Datsyuk than have him on the second unit. My ideal PP units would be Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Kronwall, and Nyquist on the first unit with Tatar, Jurco, Sheahan, Helm, and DeKeyser on the second unit.
