Quick Hits: Can The Season Begin Soon?

Red Wings News

Not a lot of Wings’ news yesterday.

Granato brings passion to Wings’ staff – Detroit Red Wings
A couple of interesting quotes by Granato in this article. The one that caught my eye the most was this: “You don’t look past Detroit”. Obviously, he was just hired by the team, but, his quote is the opposite of what us Wings’ fans have been thinking this offseason.

Calvin de Haan signed a three-year, $5.9 million deal, while Casey Cizikas‘ deal was worth $2 million over two years. Both players were RFA’s.

Nashville signs Mike Ribeiro and Derek Roy, but were they the right moves? | Post-to-Post
For a team that is trying to make the playoffs in a very difficult division, adding the depth and skill that these two players provide is quite an improvement. Plus, Nashville does not strike me as a team that tolerates behavioral problems, so I would rate the signings as medium-risk, high-reward.

The top 5 NHL players whose names begin with ‘B’ – SBNation.com

Todd Bertuzzi, Tyler Bertuzzi. And of course, Mike Babcock.
