Red Wings News

Byfuglien, Tatar, and Okposo are NHL’s three stars of the week | ProHockeyTalk
Congratulations Tatar!

A more confident and polished Tomas Tatar on journey to become elite player for Detroit Red Wings | MLive.com
Tatar is becoming a star. We have known that he has the talent, and that he is able to produce in the AHL, but seeing what he has been able to do since the beginning of last season has been extremely pleasing. Also, I love Khan’s little dig against Helene St. James in the article.

Detroit Red Wings’ Ken Holland set to scout Griffins prospects | Detroit Free Press
George Sipple thinks that the Wings may call up Landon Ferraro next if an injury arises. I would rather call up Mantha and just see what he could do in the NHL.

Red Wings’ goaltender Tom McCollum relishes first NHL win | MLive.com

Regardless of what you think of him, it is a great confidence booster for McCollum to win an NHL game. Even if he never plays again for the Wings, this might help him push his way into another team’s backup role.

NHL News

Lightning lose Matt Carle for up to two months | Puck Daddy
Great news for the rest of the Eastern Conference. Yzerman appears to be looking for a defenseman, but I do not think he is having a player of Lashoff’s calibre in mind.

Report: Bruins to host Habs in ’16 Winter Classic at Gillette | ProHockeyTalk
Arguably the NHL’s biggest rivalry and a pair of Original Six teams. A great decision by the NHL. It would have been cool if the game would have been in Montreal, but the NHL wants to use the Winter Classic to appeal to the American crowd, so having it in Canada would not have been ideal.

World Junior hero Denis Godla makes huge saves in pro debut | The Hockey News
I have a feeling that we will continue to hear this guy’s name in the future.

Senators GM Murray unlikely to trade No.1 goaltender Anderson | TSN
Unless the Senators can receive a magnificent package in return for Anderson, it does not make a lot of sense for them to trade him. I am not even sure that they could receive a lot in return for him, the market for goaltenders is overall pretty thin.

George Harrison anyone?

Bertuzzi (knee) leaves Sens’ AHL team | ProHockeyTalk
Todd Bertuzzi has suffered a setback in his comeback attempt.

Dan Carcillo suspended six games for violent cross-check | Puck Daddy

The suspension was inevitable. This was Carcillo’s 12th violation of player safety.

NHL Rumours Roundup: Colorado ready to deal – Sportsnet.ca
The Wings continue to be linked with Keith Yandle. I would not mind having him on the team, but only if the price is reasonable. A prospect defenseman + Jakub Kindl + prospect forward/first-round pick is probably my ceiling for him.

The referee seems to be really defensive when called out by Laviolette.

NHL power rankings: Bruins finally righting the ship – SBNation.com

The Wings are up three spots to #8 in SBNation’s latest power rankings.

Let’s Go Red Wings!
