Quick Hits: Bring On The Playoffs

Red Wings News

Red Wings 3, Blues 0: Petr Mrazek gets second shutout, Justin Abdelkader scores twice | MLive.com
What a great way to end our regular season!

Red Wings’ prospects Petr Mrazek, Ryan Sproul, Xavier Ouellet make strong impression in season finale (video) | MLive.com
Petr Mrazek is NHL ready at this point, there is no denying that. However, I do not want him to be playing full time with the Wings next season. Howard is still our #1 goaltender, and barring any major injuries would play 50-60 games, plus the playoffs. That would give Mrazek around 25 games of NHL experience next season. While I am sure that he could handle that amount with ease, I would rather see him spend one more season in Grand Rapids, play 60+ games, and garner more experience before making the full-time leap to the NHL.

Brodeur wins what might be final start for Devils | USA Today

I like Marty Brodeur. He is one of the greatest goaltenders of all time and has had a great career. But, sometimes you just have to call it quits. Brodeur has clearly regressed in his abilities, and I don’t envision any team taking him on to be their #1 netminder next season.
