“I don’t think so many play as I do, but I don’t think I’m unique,” Grewe said.

He acknowledges the balancing act between being abrasive and avoid penalties, something he didn’t do a good job of last season, apparently, when he racked up 102 penalty minutes in only 24 games with Djurgardens junior team.

“I can be better there and not take stupid penalties,” Grewe said. “Sometimes it happens.”

Albin Grewe is still my favorite Red Wings pick from last weekend’s NHL Draft. It seems he keeps getting comparisons to Brad Marchand… but since we don’t like him, should we maybe consider him to be Tyler Bertuzzi with more skill? I’m a huge Bertuzzi fan, so if Grewe can get to that level (or higher), I’ll be driving the hype train and everyone is welcome to jump on for the ride.

Filip Zadina keeps his #11, to no surprise. Similarly, Kaden Fulcher sticks with #36 and Ryan Kuffner has his #56. The first change is Taro Hirose, who goes from #53 to #67 after wearing #17 at Michigan State prior to signing with Detroit.

Sixth-overall pick Moritz Seider takes Hirose’s old #53. It’s a number Seider has worn previously, so my guess is that Seider was assigned it and Hirose had to switch, rather than Hirose requesting a change. We’ll have to wait until the full camp in the fall to see if Hirose keeps #67 going forward.

Nyquist was always a good goose here in Detroit. Best of luck to him with the Blue Jackets or wherever else he signs (except when he plays the Wings).

26. Steve Yzerman wasn’t the only one who sees the potential in German defenceman Moritz Seider, who Detroit took sixth overall. Mark Seidel of North American Central Scouting had him fifth.
