Quick Hits: The Perfect Move Edition

In Red Wings Land / Daily Ken Holland Article

Ken Holland’s best and worst moves in the salary cap era | Sportsnet

One trade that’s not listed in this article and absolutely should be is the deal for Brad Stuart back at the 2008 NHL trade deadline. Holland acquired the defenseman from the Kings for a 2008 second round pick (Peter Delmas) and a 2009 fourth round pick (Ben Chiarot).

That deal solidified the Red Wings blue line, specifically the 2nd pair. Stuart and Niklas Kronwall seemed to have instant chemistry together. Those two along with Nicklas Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski gave Detroit an incredible top four.

It wasn’t a massive trade by Holland, but it was the perfect move at the time.

25. Detroit Red Wings: Halifax defenseman Jared McIsaac is the last Red Wings-affiliated player standing this year.

I feel like the Wings should get some bonus points for turning the keys to the organization over to Steve Yzerman.
