The organization has a great history with Russian players, and Yzerman had success with drafting them in Tampa Bay. They won’t be afraid, if he’s the No. 1 guy on their list.

Hey, if Yzerman is good with Vasili Podkolzin then I’m good with Vasili Podkolzin. We might as well jump on the hype train now. I understand there’s a two year waiting period for him because of his overseas contract obligations, but that’s fine. The Red Wings realistically aren’t going to be that good for another couple years. Bring Podkolzin aboard the ship when the team is ready to set sail on the next phase of the rebuild.
