Quick Hits: The Taco Tuesday Edition

In Red Wings Land

Taro Hirose continues to impress Red Wings with skill, hockey sense | MLive

Hirose’s first NHL goal came 19 days after the Red Wings signed him as a free agent out of Michigan State. During that time, the 5-10, 160-pound winger has made a significant impact with six points in seven games in a seamless transition.

It looks like the Red Wings may have found themselves an NHL player. Taro Hirose has fit right in and quickly adjusted to pro hockey. You never know with Ken Holland, but based on Hirose’s play, I’d say he has made a real strong case to stay in Detroit and be on the opening night roster next fall. He’ll need to have a good training camp, but I can’t foresee him having much trouble doing that. Plus, anytime you can have a player on your team with the nickname “Taco” you have to do it.
