Quick Hits: The Prospects Edition
In Red Wings Land
WJSS Notes: Wings prospect Eliasson learning a lot in tournament | DetroitRedWings.com
Kivenmaki assisted on Team Finland’s fifth goal, scored by Elias Laitamaki, in the 6-5 victory over Team USA. He had one shot and finished even.
”Pretty good, I guess,” Kivenmaki said. “There was a couple of chances but I played a little bit simple but it’s pretty good overall, I think.”
The Red Wings’ 7th round pick might end up being a good player, eh? He apparently played well in yesterday’s game against Sweden too.
Despite not having Lundell or Kakko, the Finns could score thanks in large part to their transition and opportunism, but players like Puistola (CAR), Kivenmaki (DET), Ranta (COL), and Tanus in particular showed skill, while others like Joonas Oden (UD) challenged with speed/power

You know who didn’t play well? Jonatan Berggren... but that’s because he wasn’t in the lineup.
Team Sweden coach Tomas Monten said #RedWings prospect Jonatan Berggren is fine, no injury, just held him out to be extra careful so he will be ready for his upcoming season with Skellefteå. Said Berggren “is really pissed at me” for holding him out.

I’m just glad that him sitting isn’t injury related. I don’t want to see his back problem become a persistent thing.
The Joe Veleno Show: Part III
Red Wings prospect Veleno scores goal in 5-3 loss to U.S. | Detroit News
Canada takes the 3-2 lead on a PP goal from Joe Veleno. Give another point to Nolan Foote, who picks up a helper on the goal. #WJSS #GoBolts #LGRW pic.twitter.com/rbwnZvGwoa

Joe Veleno just keeps on producing. Love to see it.

That’s some dedication right there.
