The dream of Dougie Hamilton wearing a Red Wings jersey took a serious hit yesterday. According to Flames president Brian Burke, the young defenseman isn't going anywhere. Ken Holland likes to kick tires, but I wonder if it was actually him who started the rumor? Probably not. I am curious what terrible offer Holland could come up with though. Either way, if we ever found out he actually made a phone call, we'd surely learn that a Calgary counterproposal started with one name: Dylan Larkin.

We're still a week or so away from any of the injured Red Wings returning, but it's good to know they're on the ice skating and/or participating in practice. Getting Alexey Marchenko back will be a big help when it comes to dealing with Niklas Kronwall's knee issues and rest days. We all know what Andreas Athanasiou brings to this roster. The sooner he's back, the better.
