It is very likely that he will re-sign with the Lightning well before his contract is up, but there is a chance that he could decide to leave South Florida, with Toronto being an intriguing destination. Regardless of where he plays, there is a decent possibility that Stamkos will earn the highest cap hit of any player in the league with his next contract.
