Quick Hits: Kane Sidelined from Red Wings Road Trip

Credit: Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images

Oh hey there, friend.

It’s game day for the Red Wings — the start of a quick road trip starting in Buffalo tonight. The Sabres are 2-4-0 to start their season, so maybe not much has changed there. Too early to tell. Zach Benson looks good, though!

All right, so, the Wings are going to be without Patrick Kane tonight and tomorrow (oh yeah, it’s a back-to-back road trip by the way). Kane was injured (upper body) during Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. My guess is that the lineup will look a whole-helluva-lot the same as it did against Florida. Ain’t broke, don’t fix it, etc… anyway, here’s a look:

Finnie-Larkin-Raymond
DeBrincat-Kasper-MBN
Appleton-Compher-Berggren
JvR-Copp-Rasmussen

Chiarot-Seider
Edvinsson-ASP
Johansson-JBD

Goalie TBD. Probably Talbot. Kinda seems like the Wings will be facing Alex Lyon.

Red Wings player to watch: This will be a great opportunity for Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. He’s the only rookie who has yet to earn his first-career NHL point. That’s not to say he hasn’t looked good, I genuinely enjoy the way he plays the game. The offense will come. (source: just look at his shot)

I’m always interested in listening to Todd McLellan talk about hockey. I appreciate the nuance above all else. I think what this team really needed, at this point of the “rebuild” or whatever the hell you call it, was a battle-tested veteran coach who could set a standard and hold players accountable. Cotsonika had a whole column on this very topic with coach McLellan. Great stuff.

Hey before I go, about today’s game and what the lineup will look like; I’ll try and get those lines updated if they need to be. mmkay have a great day! LGRW!
