Quick Hits: The Blame Mike Babcock Edition
In Red Wings Land
Wings impressed with Hronek in a league that demands patience with young defensemen | MIHockey
In a year that saw significantly more scoring across the National Hockey League, only 30 defensemen reached 40 or more points.
Nearly one per team.
Despite playing in just 46 games, Red Wings blueliner Filip Hronek’s 23 points put him on pace to reach that mark with Detroit – this in his first taste of the NHL.
This is a nice look at Filip Hronek’s season with some analytics. If you asked me right now, Hronek’s progress is near the top of my list of things to watch next season.

That's a die-or-die game, where you were trailing since the first period, and had the only two power plays all night. If you lose and go down swinging with your best that's one thing, but this..
Patrick Marleau, of the 1:40 of power play time in a Game 7 in 2019, had one PP *point* since Feb. 28. #Babcock
