Red Wings News

Red Wings outlook: Should Justin Abdelkader play on a top line or be moved to a checking unit? | MLive.com
This is an interesting debate. Personally, I would prefer to play Abdelkader as a checking player. He may be able to play on the top-line, but he is not a #1 winger. Sure, he is serviceable in that position, but, he is far from ideal.

NHL breakout players in 2014-15: East – Sportsnet.ca
The article points out Riley Sheahan as one of the potential breakout players for next season. I hope that he takes the next step, but I wonder how much ice team he will actually get. With Weiss hopefully healthy, the Wings have more centers than they can ice, which will lead to some interesting competition. Also, Alex Galchenyuk is going to be a star one day, it is just a matter of time.

If the Coyotes lose $50 million over the first five years of their arena-agreement, which was signed prior to this past season, their owners have an option to relocate. The biggest problem with the Coyotes is their lack of fan support. They have the lowest average attendance in the NHL, which actually dropped compared to the lockout season.

WATCH: Tuukka Rask ‘stops’ shot fired from actual cannon – CBSSports.com
Finland does not have defensemen like Chara who can shoot a puck with the force of a cannon, so they have to settle for an actual cannon to do the job.

Would it make sense for Nashville to trade Weber? | ProHockeyTalk

Gretzky was traded, which means that no one is “untouchable”. But, unless the return for Weber is ridiculously large, it would make greater sense for Nashville to keep him. He is by far the Predators‘ best player, and is one of the best players in the entire NHL. Also, he is a name. He can help attract free agents.
