Red Wings News

Detroit Red Wings’ Holland plans to meet with Blashill this week | Detroit Free Press
Jeff Blashill’s promotion to the Red Wings’ head coach is inevitable, and as soon as the Griffins’ season is over we should have official word from the Red Wings about it.

Jeff Blashill should be fine dealing with Detroit Red Wings veterans | Detroit Free Press
While the majority of Griffins’ players are young prospects, the team also employs veterans like Jeff Hoggan who are in their 30’s. Blashill should not have a problem managing the Wings’ veterans.

Jonas Gustavsson enjoyed three seasons with Red Wings but understands it’s time to move on | MLive.com
Hej då Jonas! I really wished that Gustavsson’s stint with the Wings would have turned out better for him, because when he was healthy he was a great goaltender. The problem was that he was rarely healthy. I do not think that his NHL career is over, but he may need to play in Sweden for a year.

No NHL-first offer has been made for Seattle arena, says Hansen | ProHockeyTalk
A few months ago a Seattle NHL franchise seemed inevitable, but now I am not so sure. The city wants an NBA team there before the NHL can come, and the return of the NBA to Seattle is looking increasingly unlikely. Who would have thought that a Las Vegas franchise would seem more likely than Seattle?

There are not a lot of coaching vacancies but a lot of unemployed coaches right now, which does not bode well for Kevin Dineen’s head coaching prospects.

From Clarke: “It pisses me off that teams try to lose continually to come up with the Crosbys…and Malkins.”
