Hello, Wingnuts! Another day closer to the actual offseason!

The Red Wings made a move on Tuesday — the team announced it has signed goaltender Michal Postava to a two-year ELC. Postava, who has been playing in his homeland Czechia, is coming off a huge season in the country’s top league. The 23-year-old netminder posted a record of 23-18-0 in the regular season, backed up by a .921 SV% and 2.39 GAA. Postava followed that up with an impressive print in the postseason – 10-7-0 with a .940 SV% and a sub-2.00 GAA.

To me, it seems like Steve Yzerman is hoarding goalies in hopes that one, two, maybe three of them can be difference makers for the organization. It’s not a terrible strategy, as we all know that goaltending has long been a bit of a challenge for this team.

In other news, Michigan-native Lane Hutson is your NHL Rookie of the Year. Not a surprise! It should be mentioned that Marco Kasper ended up 10th in the Calder voting, receiving seven fifth-place votes. Not bad for a guy who wasn’t really on the Calder radar early in the season. Excited for what’s to come from MK.

Meanwhile, it probable means nothing, but Vegas has the Red Wings as the odds-on favorite to land free-agent veteran Jonathan Toews, who is attempting to make a comeback after being absent from the NHL for a few years. I want to hate it, but I don’t. I think Toews is a guy they can make a bet on, no pun intended. Give him a one-year deal and hope the future hall-of-famer still has a little gas left in the tank.

I’m not gonna link the story, and I certainly won’t waste my time reading it, but there is a Hockey News article out there right now that asks if the Red Wings should trade Lucas Raymond for the 1st overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. The answer is a resounding no. Sheesh.

Finally, though I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, head coach Todd McLellan joined the Ozzy and Keats podcast for a conversation. Check it out here:
