Coming soon: Red Wings training camp opens Sept. 19 | Detroit Free Press
I would highly appreciate it if training camp, and the regular season, would decide to hurry up.

By The Numbers: Gustav Nyquist – Detroit Red Wings

Nyquist scored 28 goals last season. Could he possibly have a 40-goal season in him?

Poll: Who are the two greatest defensemen in Detroit Red Wings history? | MLive.com
Nicklas Lidström is easily the greatest. The second defenseman is tougher to determine. Vladdy, Chelios, and Kelly all have a case for the honor, but none of the three are clearly above the rest. My bet is that when we revisit this question in ten years, Niklas Kronwall is our choice for second greatest.

The Blackhawks currently sit $2 million above the salary cap, but the team should be able to get that down before the season begins. However, their long-term cap situation is more dire. Moving Sharp would bring back a considerable return, which makes trading him more lucrative. Regardless, Chicago needs to create some cap space.

No one is entitled to a spot on a WJC team, but Ekblad is as close as it gets to a lock.

Tampa Bay Lightning are ready to make a Stanley Cup run – SBNation.com

From a talent perspective, the Lightning certainly have a chance. Their core players are still young, and I could see them needing another year or two of nurturing before being truly ready to make a run. But, if we saw the Lighting facing the Wings in the ECF next season, I would not be surprised.

Let’s Go Red Wings!
