In Red Wings Land
Q&A: Ken Holland on joining Oilers, supporting Connor McDavid | Sportsnet
Are you bringing Shawn Horcoff with you from Detroit?
“I hired him (in Detroit) on the recommendation of (Kris) Draper and (Dan) Cleary. He has been a great addition. I think he and Steve will hit it off. He married a girl from Michigan, the farm team (Grand Rapids) is two hours away from his house. Life is good for Horc, and I’m sure Steve will want to keep him, because Horc is a good man.”
So it sounds like Shawn Horcoff is staying with the Red Wings. Ryan Martin too.
Not sure if this has been reported, but you can scratch Ryan Martin’s name off of any Ken Holland hiring list. He will stay with Steve Yzerman as assistant GM in Detroit.

Podkolzin plummets in TSN Hockey’s Mock Draft 3.0 | TSN
Podkolzin, who turned heads at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and played at three different levels for SKA St. Petersburg this season, was the third-overall pick in TSN Hockey’s post-lottery mock draft. He has now slid all the way down to the Florida Panthers at No. 13.
“Podkolzin just doesn’t have as much high-end skill as others at the top of this class have demonstrated,” Button said. “He’s more of a bulldog-type player. He might end up being a lot like Lawson Crouse.”
Maybe Vasili Podkolzin isn’t a real option for the Red Wings at #6? He was never my first choice anyway. I’d prefer a center or Bowen Byram, but he is likely going to be gone by the time Steve Yzerman makes his pick.
Craig Button has the Wings taking Dylan Cozens in this mock. I’d be cool with that. He’s probably my second choice behind Alex Turcotte.
