Red Wings continue to struggle vs. top teams | MLive
Although they lost on Friday night to the Blue Jackets, the Red Wings seemed to think that they played a good game. But was it just a case of puck luck and nothing more?
A deeper look at their record shows a troubling trend of underperformance against top teams in their division and conference. In fact, the Wings are 9-9-2 against teams above .500. They’re only 4-3-1 against teams under .500, so I don’t know if these numbers suggest struggling against winning teams or plain old struggling overall.
Pacioretty leads Canadiens’ 10-1 rout with four goals | Montreal Gazette
Who said there are no more goals in hockey? Max Pacioretty had 4 goals and an assist to help the Canadiens beat the Avalanche 10-1 on Saturday night.
The Canadiens scored 6 goals in the first period alone and things just went south from there for the Avalanche.
They pulled their starting goalie, Pickard, after he let in 3 goals on 10 shots in favour of Varlamov. Unfortunately, Varlamov didn’t have an answer for the Habs and the Avs put Pickard back again.
Carey Price gets his NHL leading 16th win of the season and Jarome Iginla played his 1,500th game in the NHL. A very, very forgettable 1,500th game for him I suspect.
