In a terrifying scene last night, New Jersey Devils’ Taylor Hall hit Vancouver’s Philip Larsen leaving him [almost] instantly unconscious. Before anyone could get to Larsen to help him, his teammates rushed over to defend him while simultaneously narrowly avoiding hitting him with sticks and skates and piling on top of him.
Luckily, Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom had the good sense to stand over Larson to try and protect him while Markus Granlund tried to push the group away from him.
Apparently Larsen is OK, but it was a chilling scene to witness as things could have gone much worse. It should make players re-think how to best help and protect their teammates in situations like these.

Jimmy Howard back, Red Wings upbeat entering longest home stand | Detroit Free Press
The Red Wings are feeling good heading to the Joe for their longest home stand of the season. They have points in seven of their last eight games and managed a fantastic come back last night against the Winnipeg Jets.
Among the promising developments are Tatar [maybe] getting his scoring touch back, Nielsen and Vanek adjusting incredibly well to their new teams, Petr Mrazek’s play bouncing back and Howard being activated off IR.
