Red Wings Rumblings
Column out from Max Bultman today takes a look at fanbase confidence in Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman. This is a paywalled article – but it’s worth having a discussion…
“Two years ago, Detroit Red Wings fans’ faith in their front office was nearly unassailable…
…But just two years later, it appears that faith has been shaken. In the 2024 front-office confidence ranking, published last week by Dom Luszczyszyn, the Red Wings have fallen all the way down to 21st after already dropping to 12th in 2023.”
The 2023 fan guide gave Detroit’s roster building a ‘B’ but in 2024 it’s a ‘C+’. So, how is your confidence today? I’ll say that my patience is starting to thin, but I’m still very much bullish on Yzerman when looking at the big picture. A great prospect pipeline (something we’ve never really had), but an NHL roster that could still be outside the playoff bubble.
In other news, game tickets are on sale.

Finally, some real offseason drama. The Blues have tendered offer sheets for Oilers D Philip Broberg and forward Dylan Holloway. St. Louis pulled off a trade yesterday with Pittsburgh that recouped the pick(s) they would need if these offer sheets are successful. It’s likely Edmonton will lose at least one of these players. Pretty funny outcome here now that Stan Bowman is Oilers GM.
