In Red Wings Land

You love to see it.

This is ridiculous. If I’m a player, and this is the result, I’m going to try to hurt him next game. And I don’t want that to be the case. The league is incentivizing retaliation.

I want to be clear. I do not want players to retaliate by trying to injure the other player. That’s not something I want in the game. But, what do you expect? The way you take away the incentive to retaliate is by severely punishing the initial conduct.

This is clearly intentional. It’s also a “play” that could clearly cause major injury. The Department of Player Safety continues to abdicate its responsibility to police the game, and it’s only a matter of time before someone else has their career ended like Marc Savard did.
