Red Wings Rumblings

The Red Wings are back in action tonight on home ice against Chicago — after beating the Hawks in their own barn by a final score of 4-2 on Wednesday night. Puck drop tonight is set for 7 PM ET. Per Max Bultman, here’s what the lines are looking like for tonight:

Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer
Berggren-Compher-Tarasenko
Snively-Danielson-Chiasson
Ratcliffe-Lombardi-Hanas

Chiarot-Seider
Wallinder-Viro
Lagesson-Tuomisto

Lyon
Talbot

One of the big positives from Wednesday’s game was Marco Kasper. We’re really starting to see his skill blossom, and that was a topic over on the Red Wings official site in the last 24 hours:

“He doesn’t even look like the same athlete as last year at this time in camp,” Lalonde said about Kasper on Sept. 20. “He built some confidence from his growth in (Grand Rapids) last year, and I think that was very valuable for him. He’s got some attitude into camp this year, which is certainly a positive.”

“I have a lot more confidence this year,” Kasper said on Sept. 21. “We worked a lot last year in Grand Rapids. That was a big part for us young guys to develop, get a chance to adjust to the pro level over here in North America and just work on our game a lot.”

Meanwhile, here’s your update on Axel Sandin-Pellikka, who is playing at a point-per-game pace so far this season:

The Hockey News Predicts Atlantic Division

The Hockey News predicts Detroit will be sixth in the Atlantic Division this season. Here’s a snippet from their explanation:

“The Red Wings had an exodus of talent this summer, particularly on offense. The few additions they did make – including Tarasenko, defenseman Erik Gustafsson and goalie Cam Talbot – are underwhelming, to put it mildly. Detroit GM Steve Yzerman’s blueprint for success isn’t off track since there is still a wave of young talent on the way. But more questions could be asked if the Wings fail to make the playoffs this year. That’s a very real possibility.”

The article had Ottawa ranked at 4th, so like, take this with a grain of salt, man.

Gibson sidelined 3-6 weeks

Remember just months ago when John Gibson was a rumored trade target for Detroit? Good thing we didn’t go through with that, eh?
