Detroit Red Wings loan yet another player to Europe: G Calvin Pickard
In what does not seem encouraging news that there will be professional hockey in North America soon, the Detroit Red Wings have loaned another player to a team in Europe.

The Wings announced Tuesday that minor-league goaltender Calvin Pickard has been assigned to the Vienna Capitals in Austria.

I’ll admit I picked this article just so I could point out that I laughed so hard for some reason when I saw the headline on the page started with “Uh oh.”

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment says it is cutting the salaries of up to one quarter of its full-time staff, and extending salary reductions for senior management and executives to deal with the financial impact of COVID-19.

Not surprising, but it still sucks for all the people who are affected by this.

According to Kevin McGran, the NHL and the NHLPA haven’t had any serious negotiations about the 2020-21 season for over a week. This comes after the league asked the players to re-open the recently signed collective bargaining agreement that was signed in July.

I have no idea how the NHL is supposed to meet their prospective start date, which is still January 1st.
