Red Wings Rumblings
hello darkness, my old friend…
Would you look at that — the Red Wings are currently on a five-game losing streak headed into tonight. Saturday night’s loss against Colorado didn’t seem like too much of a downer for me… After all, the defense was stout, but unfortunately Georgiev was in brick-wall mode. This is not a compliment to Jeff Petry, for the record — this guy is not an NHL player and I am starting to question why we keep this experiment going. shrug.
In other news, there was a rumor started on social media this weekend that Dylan Larkin had requested a trade. Anyone with half-a-brain should know that’s red-hot on the “bullshit meter.” I digress… It was “reported” and then quickly dispelled by Chris Johnston. I respect that he got out in front of it rather quickly. Still, I don’t expect this narrative to disappear, and that’s another layer of annoying for a season that I already feel pretty indifferent about. Once again, I shrug.
Oh yeah, we gotta talk about all of the drama with the New York Rangers. Jacob Trouba wound up getting traded to Anaheim for a draft pick and a depth player, no salary retained. I don’t really understand the move from Anaheim’s perspective, but I do like Pat Verbeek as a GM. I’m interested to see how that plays out. This of course puts the “Trouba to Detroit” saga to come to an end… for now. 🙂
Shortly after the Trouba trade, the New York Rangers handed Igor Shesterkin a mammoth eight-year, $92 million contract. I expected him to get more, honestly.
Have a good Monday, everyone. Let’s hope the Wings can show some life tonight.
