Detroit Red Wings mock draft: Steve Yzerman picks another defenseman

I know the obvious reply to this based on many of our expectations in last year’s draft, but I would be very surprised if Detroit takes Drysdale, even at 4.

Would I riot if we took Drysdale? No. I just think that the options we would have at forward would provide more value for the team.
In this mock, the Wings are pushed back to the fourth selection. Yzerman chooses Jamie Drysdale, considered the best defenseman available in the draft. Drysdale produced nine goals and 38 assists in 49 games this season with the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League. He had a goal and two assists in seven games for Canada at the World Junior Championships.

Bonus:

This always makes me cry tears of happiness and sadness, at the same time. My hockey memorabilia dream is a photo of Vlad in the wheelchair with the cup, signed by the Russian Five. I don’t know if that is possible, so I’m working on getting signed pucks by them, which I’ll fashion into a shadowbox type thing with the picture.

31 Thoughts: Best-case scenario for resumption of NHL season – Sportsnet.ca
There’s a lot in this article, about a lot of different topics. There is even a recipe! No, really.
The AHL has not officially cancelled the rest of this year, but that’s a formality. One theory as to why that hasn’t happened is some AHL players could end up playing for NHL teams, and, as a result, there’s no point in giving them the mindset their year is over. Over the last week, however, NHL GMs were warned about concerns that the AHL could potentially go without playing next season if fans were not allowed into buildings. That is an absolute worst-case scenario, but it exists.

“It’s important for people to understand that this is not about panicking,” Andrews said. “This is about coming up with a plan to make sure the league is sustainable. We’ve been in a good place, and we’re going to find a way to make sure we can stay in a good place. It’s about modelling different scenarios. What if we start in October? What if we start in November? What if we start later? Asking people, ‘What do you think about this?’”
