Trouble Overseas?
Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard are both playing for Skelleftea AIK in the SHL this season.. and well, the team is not doing great. Currently they are 10th in SHL standings with a record of 7-8. ASP and MBN are no doubt some of their best players, as well as some of Detroit’s most-coveted prospects. Not that I think it would happen, but I wonder if the team’s performance will be of any consideration to Red Wings management. Surely both of them could probably benefit from being in the AHL with a team (Griffins) that has momentum. It’s a little late to call them over to North America, but it isn’t impossible. Again, don’t think it will happen in-season, but I would guess this might be their last season in the SHL, or at least with Skelleftea.
Meanwhile, in Grand Rapids — Ville Husso has been sent back to the Griffins, meaning Alex Lyon will likely make a start soon. The Griffins are in action tonight in Chicago and don’t play again for another week. That gives Detroit some much-needed flexibility if a player were to go down with injury or illness.

It took Connor McDavid 659 games to reach 1,000 points. That’s the fourth-fastest to reach such a milestone behind Gretzky, Lemieux, and Bossy.
The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the red-hot Winnipeg Jet last night, which was Andrei Vasilevskiy’s 300th career win. He’s the 40th goalie to reach the milestone, and it only took him 490 games, which is the fastest of all-time, ahead of Jacques Plante, who did it in 521 games.
