Quick Hits: The Goalie Emergency Edition

Red Wings Rumblings

The Wings played well yesterday, all things considered. The worst part of the game was losing Cam Talbot to a lower-body injury. To add insult to this, well, injury — Alex Lyon is sidelined as well. We expect to learn more about Talbot at some point Monday. The Grand Rapids Griffins are currently carrying Sebastian Cossa, Carter Gylander, and Jack Campbell (who has yet to make a start this season). If Talbot and Lyon can’t play, I would highly suggest the Wings give Sebastian Cossa the call-up.

Speaking of Grand Rapids — big 6-4 win for the Griffins on Sunday. Unfortunately, Amadeus Lombardi left the game with an injury:

Amadeus Lombardi left the game after this hit. He did attempt to come back credit to him for trying. Per Griffins Head Coach Dam Watson he is battling a couple of things. Doesn’t know much more at this time.

Lombardi has been an offensive catalyst for the Griffins this season. Hoping this injury isn’t serious. It also sounds like Carter Mazur won’t be back from injury anytime soon.

Jiricek Traded

Big trade here — Columbus trades young and promising defenseman David Jiricek to Minnesota for a pack of picks. I like the aggresiveness for Minnesota here. Jiricek is a stud and will play in this league at a high level for a long time.

Elsewhere, a couple of dorks got fined for unsportsmanlike conduct. That’ll show ’em.
