Detroit Red Wings mailbag: Why is Jeff Blashill still Steve Yzerman’s coach? – Freep

As for the second part of the question: Blashill is on the hot seat. He is entering the last year of his contract and will be in charge of an improved roster.

The way the question itself is asked is eye-rollingly insulting to “the regular fan” that I no longer believe it’s ever asked in good faith by one.  I get people not wanting Blashill to be coach, but not understanding the reasons seems disingenuous by this point.

Lacroix dies at 72, won Stanley Cup twice as Avalanche GM – NHL.com

Lacroix’s tenure was also highlighted by blockbuster trades made to acquire future Hockey Hall of Famers Patrick Roy, Ray Bourque and Rob Blake. Roy arrived from the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 6, 1995 and the goalie was a member of each championship team for the Avalanche. Bourque was acquired from the Boston Bruins on March 6, 2000 and Blake was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 21, 2001. The defensemen helped Colorado win the Stanley Cup in 2001.

Almost everything you hated and/or begrudgingly respected about the Avs during the rivalry was because of Pierre Lacroix.  According to Le Journal de Quebec, Lacroix’s passing was from complications due to complications of Coronavirus.
