Red Wings Rumblings
Well, it’s safe to say that tonight is a must-win game in San Jose, at least it is for this coaching staff. They are 0-2 on this road trip, and really should be 1-1 if it weren’t for a collapse against the lowly Anaheim Ducks Friday night. If they can’t manage to win this game, I imagine the calls for some changes behind the bench will only get louder. You cannot lose to a team like the Sharks, all due respect.
Offseason acquisition Jack Campbell is out of the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and was placed on waivers this weekend. The expectation is that Campbell will return to Grand Rapids once/if he clears. If someone decides to claim him, then the Wings will be clear of his (modest) contract.

Ovechkin Marches Toward History
Alex Ovechkin picked up a hat-trick against Vegas last night. The Great 8 is now 29 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894 goals. Safe to say that Ovechkin will become the all-time leading goal-scorer in the next year or two. I wouldn’t put it past him to achieve the milestone this season. He is truly, even without Gretzky’s record, the best goal-scorer the NHL, or the sport of hockey, has ever seen.
Ryan Reaves will sit out five games after his nasty hit to Darnell Nurse. Reaves will forfeit $35,156.25 in salary and is eligible to return for Toronto on Dec. 4 against Nashville.
