I’m going to say something controversial: Darren Helm is filling a necessary role admirably for the Red Wings this season.

“We know the situation we’re in, but there’s a lot of pride in putting on the jersey. Guys have respect for that jersey, the organization. Things aren’t going great but guys are taking pride in wearing the winged wheel and we want to do the best we can.”

Alex Pietrangelo visited Bouwmeester yesterday after the game and Facetimed with the team, which he said “made everyone feel a lot better knowing he was in good hands.” He couldn’t explain how the incident felt other than it felt like an eternity, but once they handed it over to the medical staff, they knew it was taken care of.
