Red Wings Rumblings

First up on this glorious Friday — Some accolades for one of Detroit’s brightest young stars:

Simon Edvinsson’s trajectory has been consistent, but his time in the NHL has been limited. We all know the story there, let’s manifest that Simon doesn’t suit up for the Griffins again. (no disrespect to the Griffs, of course)

Lyon Hungry For More

Alex Lyon is headed into a contract year with success and improvement on his mind. Detroit Red Wings dot com had a feature on the 31-year-old netminder yesterday, which included some praise from Detroit’s bench boss:

“Lyon provided much-needed stability in net for the Red Wings, stepping up while goaltender Ville Husso battled multiple lower-body injuries this season. Head coach Derek Lalonde said Lyon proved invaluable to Detroit.

‘Huge kudos to our management group to have the vision of not only signing him, but not (putting) him through waivers,โ€ Lalonde said about Lyon. โ€œThat’s something we discussed a lot. Thank God they didn’t. Great vision by them in the big picture of things and with his emergence, it’s exciting.'”

NHL News

Uh-oh in Edmonton

Well, the Oilers laid another egg last night in game three of the Stanley Cup Final. They managed to rumble back after falling behind in a three-goal deficit, but it was too little too late. Now they have to win four games in a row if they don’t want this season to be a complete wash. Not looking good since the Panthers seem to have full control of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Yikes.

Utah jerseys unveiled

Utah’s NHL team (still without a name) revealed the jerseys for its inaugural season, and of course, it drew a lot of reaction:

Is it possible to think these are totally fine but also suck at the same time? Because that’s how I feel about it!
