Red Wings Rumblings
Simon Edvinsson is enjoying the success in Grand Rapids as the Griffins push through the Calder Cup Playoffs. In this article, Edvinsson says while all of that is great, he can’t help but to think about how the season ended in Detroit:
“It’s been fun with the Griffins. But of course, it sucked to have gone out that way (with the Red Wings),” Edvinsson told DetroitRedWings.com on Wednesday. “It was a lot of fun to play those difficult, important games. It was a great experience, but I really felt like we had something with that group.”
I think we should all feel pretty good about this guy. He’s been ready for full-time NHL duty, and should be granted that next season.
Ansar Khan riffs on the possibility of former Red Wings bench boss Jeff Blashill landing a head coach position in the NHL this offseason. Several teams are looking for a new head coach right now, and Elliotte Friedman says he “would like to see Jeff Blashill get a second chance.”

Brandsegg-Nygard joins ASP
This is certainly interesting… A lot of mock drafts have Detroit connected to Brandsegg-Nygard, as pointed out in our mock draft roundup from a week ago. Maybe this move means nothing, but also… Could be a precursor?

Chris Kreider single-handedly burried the Carolina Hurricanes last night, propelling the Rangers to win the series. What can be said about the Hurricanes at this point? As I noted on Twitter, they are a cutting-edge team that somehow goes dull every single year. Something clearly has to change, but what?
The Vancouver Canucks took a 3-2 series lead over Edmonton last night. If the Oilers fizzle off yet again, we should expect some front office shake-up.. Perhaps Ken Holland’s seat is getting a little too hot?
