Red Wings Rumblings
It’s Red Wings game day again, and the vibes are not great! Detroit is winless in the month of March — currently on a six-game losing streak with Buffalo coming into LCA tonight. Despite being on a nasty skid, the Wings played one of their best games of the season against Ottawa on Monday, they just ran into Linus Ullmark who put up a Vezina-caliber performance for the Senators — stopping 48 of 49 shots.
Not much else I can say, they just really need a win. Forget the playoffs, this group just needs something to build off of.
In other news, it sounds like there is a plan to get top prospect Axel Sandin-Pellikka over to North America as soon as his season with Skelleftea is wrapped up. He could even make his Red Wings debut as early as this season, we’ll just have to see how the chips fall with ASP’s team. It’s great news either way. Having ASP on this side of the pond is another big step forward for Steve Yzerman’s rebuild, or whatever you’re calling it nowadays.
Checking in on the Griffins.. The team completed a deal with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and acquired defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov in exchange for future considerations. This is some much-needed depth for the AHL affiliate – and some had wondered if this means Detroit is calling someone up. I don’t believe that’s the case because William Lagesson was not moved around before the deadline, meaning he is not eligible to be reassigned to the AHL. Knyzhov is his replacement in that regard.
Have a nice Wednesday, folks. Hopefully we’ll have a win to talk about soon.
