First off, let me extend a very happy Pride Month to all of our LGBTQ+ friends out there. We are manifesting love, peace, and good vibes during this joyous time. Never forget that WIIM will always be a safe space for you.
Red Wings Rumblings
Patrick Kane (uh huh), Elias Lindholm (meh), Jonathan Marchessault (another meh), Sam Reinhart (not happening), and Steven Stamkos (don’t hold your breath).
Obviously Detroit needs help with scoring, and all of those names would help in that regard, but we have to keep in mind the contracts that are being doled out. With Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider due extensions this offseason, it could be a little tricky to maneuver. Let’s not forget that Detroit has several young players that are in line for a promotion soon. Free agency will play a role in Detroit’s offseason no doubt, but those moves need to be made with some prospects in mind.
Speaking of the offseason, the 2024 NHL Scouting Combine kicks off today and runs through Friday in Las Vegas. This gives the 32 NHL teams a chance to assess the top prospects in this Draft. The 2024 NHL Draft is set for June 28th and 29th at the Sphere.

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers are the final two teams left in the dance. I’m leaning Panthers on this one, mostly because of how the team is built. I’m not sure if Edmonton’s star power will be able to mask the team’s bigger issues. Should be a fun series to tune into.
