Red Wings Rumblings
A New Business for a Familiar Trio
Former Red Wings Henrik Zetterberg, Niklas Kronwall, and Gustav Nyquist have banded together with former Swedish padel pro Robert Kjellberg to open “Zmash Padel” in Sterling Heights not far from the General Motors Global Tech Center. Padel is a popular sport in Europe, and now the former Red Wings have brought that concept to Metro Detroit in the form of the Midwests largest Padel facility. Here’s a bit from the former Red Wings captain:
“I retired in 2019, moved back to Sweden, (and) wanted to do something… I had a tough time playing tennis, running — I had to move. I found out about this sport — it was one of the few acivities that was good for my back, and I still get a really good workout.. So, I started to play, and I got really, really hooked.”
Zmash Padel launched six months ago. Cool concept worth checking out if you’re in that neck of the woods.
Jan Bednar (G), Tnias Mathurin (D), and Theodor Niederbach (C/RW) all will become free agents if they don’t sign with Detroit by this Saturday (June 1).
