Red Wings News

Detroit Red Wings Roundtable: Picking Between Mike Green, Tyler Myers and Keith Yandle | DSS
Between Green, Myers, and Yandle, I would prefer Yandle or Green, but, I feel that Myers would probably be the cheapest of the three, making him potentially the best option.

Jurco really is a magician.

Red Wings Firsts: Ryan Sproul – Detroit Red Wings
Assuming that he is not traded, which I hope that he isn’t, Sproul will be one of our best defenseman in a few years. I cannot wait until his cannon of a shot is on our PP.

Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews sign massive 8-year, $84M deals with Chicago | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports
With a rising cap and the importance of these two players, you really cannot complain about these two deals. They are Chicago’s main players, and, considering what they were initially asking for, these deals were overall pretty fair. Obviously, this means that Chicago is going to need to free up some long-term cap space, but, you are doing so in order to keep two of the best hockey players in the world.

Cory Schneider accepts 7-year, $42-million Devils’ deal and Brodeur’s mantle | Puck Daddy – Yahoo Sports
Unlike the Toews and Kane deals, the Devils are going to regret this extension for the next eight seasons. This type of contract is what a great goaltender receives. Schneider is a good goaltender, but, he’s not great. Signing a goaltender to a long-term contract is usually a bad thing, and, I have a feeling that this contract is going to turn out to be a very bad thing for the Devils going forward.

Jets can’t let Kane situation fester much longer | ProHockeyTalk
Evander Kane is a really talented player, but, from a Jets perspective, trading him is probably the best option. He clearly does not want to play in Winnipeg, and they could probably pull a considerable return, which is something that the Jets desperately need.

Oilers sign goaltender Bachman to one-year contract | TSN
Bachman is 26-years-old and spent the majority of last season with the OKC Barons.

Ducks sign Heatley: one year, $1 million | ProHockeyTalk
Heatley is a shell of the player that he used to be, but, he is still capable of scoring a handful of goals. A change of scenery may have been just what Heatley needed.

The five best and worst long-term NHL contracts – Sportsnet.ca
Good long-term contract: Sidney Crosby. Bad long-term contract: Rick DiPietro.
