In Red Wings Land

Evgeny Svechnikov might get another opportunity with Red Wings – mlive.com
“First off, he’s got to get an opportunity and right now he’s on the outside looking in,” Blashill said. “He’s here as depth right now. … When he’s had that opportunity, he’s played OK. What you need to do to stick is make a huge impact in the game and usually you’re going to do that with about 8-12 minutes, that’s what you normally get when you get called up. And in those 8-12 minutes, you have to be really good. And then the next night, maybe you go from eight to 10, and then 10 to 12 and 12 to 14 and so on. Some guys end up working backward and then they’re not here anymore. All we want is guys who are going to help us win and make big impacts on the game.”

Sure, whatever Jeff.

Evgeny Kuznetsov on his difficult bout with COVID-19: I ‘almost cried happy tears when I realized I can walk and breath’ again
“I just want to say, there was a moment when I woke up, and almost cried happy tears when I realized I can walk and breath,” Kuznetsov said. “There were some moments. Difficult. Everything happens for the first time, you never know what to expect next. The way this disease goes – one day you are fine, the next day it’s bad. Only those who got sick with symptoms will understand what I am talking about. I wouldn’t wish this on anybody.”

During Kuznetsov’s first game back against the Penguins on February 14, he scored. But he revealed there were times he was struggling with his conditioning still.

“I did absolutely nothing for 21 days,” Kuznetsov said. “I thought, three days of practice would be enough, that I am in good shape. But occasionally it was pretty difficult during the game. It felt as if I just came out to skate with the guys after summer break, that’s how strange it was. But the game went on pretty well, it was emotional. We were constantly trying to catch up with them. It went so fast, I didn’t even notice how tired I was.”

Some of the players who have gotten COVID during this season have had some pretty bad cases. Fortunately, so far there haven’t been too many. Fingers crossed that holds up.
