Quick Hits: The Prospects Sweep Edition

Red Wings Rumblings

The Red Wings prospects completed the series sweep against the Dallas Stars prospects in the 2024 Prospects Games over the weekend. I personally didn’t get to catch much, but there are some highlights if you missed it as well:

I’d have to say that Amadeus Lombardi looked best to me. You can start to see the confidence in his game, which means he’s starting to showcase his skill more and more each time I watch him. He’s set for a huge season in Grand Rapids that could decide when he will see NHL action. The Wings really took it to the Stars, but you also have to like Carter Gylander’s performance overall. He holds a key position in the pool of goaltending prospects Detroit has — because outside of Cossa and Augistine, there’s not much right now. Another big season ahead for that guy.

Bleacher Report’s Prediction for Detroit

I can save you the click here — they actually don’t bother to make any prediction and instead displayed slight concern over Seider and Raymond’s contracts. Nothing new, we’re all a little worried about that. Thanks for your time, BR.

That being said, Elliote Friedman has some insight on the contract negotiations for Seider and Raymond:

This makes sense, and I have echoed this in the past. I look at Larkin’s contract as the “peak” of this roster in terms of compensation. It would be great to get both of them signed for under the $8.7 million benchmark, but it sounds like Steve Yzerman may need to wiggle the “rule” here.

Update on Driver Charged in Gaudreau Deaths

The driver accused of killing Johnny Gaudreau and his brother had a blood-alcohol level of .087 when the crash happened back on August 29th:

“The driver, 43-year-old Sean M. Higgins of nearby Woodstown, New Jersey, is charged with two counts of death by auto, along with reckless driving, possession of an open container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. At a virtual court hearing Friday, a judge ordered that he be held for trial after prosecutors described a history of alleged road rage and aggressive driving.”
