Red Wings News
Full disclosure: it probably helps that we faced a slumping NJ squad without two of its best players, as well as a Minnesota team that’s struggling to do anything right except take penalties. But, we could have come back from the Sweden trip and phoned in NJ and Boston because of the holiday, and given up against the Wild. We obviously didn’t do that, and good on Larkin for finding a way to make sure we didn’t do that. I hope he can keep the boys this level of energized and believing heading into Wednesday’s game vs the Rangers.
Around The League
You can feel the exasperation growing in Toronto as the carelessness of the team’s top regulars continues alongside frequent moments of brilliance.
Just… wow. To be clear, this is an article bashing the Leafs and their performance this season. I can’t see any way the author wrote this without pounding every key on his MacBook as hard as he could. It’s a long-worded lament that Sheldon Keefe isn’t benching his stars when they, or the rest of the team, mess up. Somehow that relates to there being too many teams in the NHL, I guess? It’s clear that the passion is there for this particular Syrup Sucker (Damien Cox, for what it’s worth) but saying the Leafs this year are a product of too many bad players allowed to be in the league because there are too many teams… It’s like he’s trying to call out the coach without ever actually having to call out the coach.
Lemme sum it up for you: “If Toronto is going to be this bad, at least be bad with your star players benched for sending a message.” There, saved you a click.
My god are they angry in Toronto if they’re writing mad like this.
